The Desert Research Institute lost its bid to win the management contract at the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education. DOE announced earlier that it had selected incumbent Oak Ridge Associated Universities.
In a statement, DRI President Stephen Wells said the institute will have a debriefing next week with DOE’s selection committee. Wells did not comment on whether DRI plans to appeal the decision on the $1.4 billion contract.
Here is the statement from the DRI president:
“DRI was made aware of the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Science announcement this morning regarding the award of the contract to manage the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) to the existing contractor, Oak Ridge Associated Universities. The management team of DRI Tennessee, an affiliated nonprofit of DRI that bid on the ORISE contract, has a debriefing scheduled for next week with the DOE Selection Committee and cannot comment on the award, our bid, or the contract selection process at this time.”
