Travis Humble, Melanie Mayes, Wellington Muchero and Clayton Webster of Oak Ridge National Laboratory were among 49 young researchers selected for Early Career Research Awards by the Department of Energy’s Office of Science.
This is the seventh year of the awards given to outstanding scientists early in their careers supported by the Office of Science.
According to information distributed by the lab:
— Humble, a member of the lab’s Computer Science and Mathematics Division, will receive funding for “Accelerating Applications of High‐Performance Computing with Quantum Processing Units.”
— Mayes, a member of the Environmental Sciences Division, is working on “A Comprehensive Framework for Modeling Emissions from Tropical Soils and Wetlands.”
— Muchero of the Biosciences Division was chosen for his work on “Host‐Microbial Genetic Features Mediating Symbiotic Interactions in the Bioenergy Crop Salix.”
— Webster, a researcher in the Computer Science and Mathematics Division, will receive funding for his, “Mathematical Methods for Optimal Polynomial Recovery of High‐Dimensional Systems from Noisy Data.”
